Private sector costing of voluntary medical male circumcision in South Africa

In 2012 the National Department of Health (NDoH) set an ambitious target of performing 4.3 million circumcisions by 2016. Because of the South Africa’s NDoH’s interest in expanding coverage to reach its voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) target, either within private or public sector facilities, Project SOAR was requested to conduct a private-sector costing of providing VMMC services in South Africa to address this limitation.

The findings presented in this report provide a detailed investigation, through a comprehensive bottom-up approach, of the costs to private providers in offering VMMC to clients.
